Trespassing, car break-in: Hinsdale cops

HINSDALE, IL – Over the past week, Hinsdale Police have dealt with cases of trespassing, car burglaries, job scams, stolen Christmas decorations, hit and run and DUIs. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:

Intrusion

  • A resident of the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue told police that a stranger was seen by a surveillance camera coming out of the resident’s home around 3 p.m. Friday. The man was described as being white and wearing a black baseball cap, blue jacket, gray sweatpants and gray shoes. Nothing was reported missing from the house, and nothing appeared to have been trashed.

  • An unlocked car was broken into shortly before midnight Thursday in the 500 block of North Vine Street. The interior has been searched.

Job scam

  • A resident of Block 1400 of Burr Oak Court was contacted between August 28 and September 8 by someone posing as a recruiter. The resident received a cashier’s check in the amount of $ 3,000 and was instructed to make payments of $ 2,900 using online banking services. The resident learned that the check was fraudulent after online banking transactions were completed. The scam was reported on Friday.

Stolen decorations

  • Christmas decorations valued at $ 710 were stolen between midnight and 9 a.m. Sunday from the lawn of the 300 block of North Adams Street. The victim’s neighbor also reported that his decorations were stolen.

Hit and run crash

  • A hit-and-run accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the lane of Block 100 of South Washington Street. A car was struck while parked.

DUI

  • Anthony M. Wilson, 56, of Willowbrook, was arrested around 4:30 a.m. Friday at Ninth Street and Garfield Avenue for drunk driving (drugs) and stopping, standing or parking illegally where prohibited. Wilson’s car was parked facing oncoming traffic at the intersection, according to a police report. He refused to provide a blood or urine sample. He was released and a date set to appear in court.
  • Diante Wiliams, 32, of Chicago, was arrested around 3 a.m. Saturday at Washington Street and Chicago Avenue for drunk driving, illegal possession of marijuana by a driver and improper parking. According to a police report, a witness reported seeing Williams asleep while driving. He underwent tests that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was released and a date set to appear in court.

To guarantee

  • Isael J. Hernandez-Avelar, 22, of Glendale Heights, was arrested shortly before midnight Dec. 6 at 55th Street and County Line Road on a DuPage County warrant. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. He was arrested for a traffic violation, but has not been charged.
  • Laquell J. Brown, 38, of Hinsdale, was arrested around 11 a.m. Sunday in the 5500 block of South Madison Street on a DuPage County warrant. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
