New Delhi [India], August 22 (ANI): On August 23, the Ministry of Finance summoned the Managing Director and CEO of Infosys Salil Parekh to explain to the Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman why, even after 2.5 months since the launch of the new portal of electronic filing, issues in the portal have not been resolved, according to India Income Tax.
The Income Tax Department’s new e-filing portal 2.0 (revenutax.gov.in) went live on July 7. Since its launch, many problems have arisen in the operation of the new portal.
Earlier on June 22, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman flagged concerns in the new income tax portal during a meeting with Infosys officials and urged them to resolve these problems.
According to a statement released by Income Tax Commissioner Surabhi Ahluwalia, the Minister of Finance chaired today’s meeting between senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and Infosys to discuss issues with the new portal of the ‘income tax.
Sitharaman urged Infosys (service provider) to work on the tax portal to make it “more human and user-friendly,” the statement said.
“The Union Minister of Finance expressed her deep concern over the various issues faced by stakeholders in the new portal, which was to provide a transparent experience for taxpayers. The Union Minister of Finance asked Infosys to resolve all problems without further loss of time, improve their services, resolve grievances as a priority because this had a negative impact on taxpayers, âthe statement said.
