Norwalk Oyster Fest publishes health and safety policy


Norwalk, CT – In accordance with the State of Connecticut and City of Norwalk mandates, the Norwalk Oyster Festival has issued the following policy statement regarding its health and safety policy for the Norwalk Oyster Festival to be held at Veterans Park at Norwalk on September 10, 11 and 12.

The organizers of the Norwalk Seaport Association at the Norwalk Oyster Festival consider the health and safety of our customers, artists, vendors, volunteers and employees to be their top priority. We have worked with municipal, state and public health authorities to ensure the site remains a safe environment for all. The following health and safety policy details the actions taken by the Norwalk Seaport Association.

Norwalk Oyster Festival Health and Safety Policy

* Vaccination ID and face masks are not required at Norwalk Oyster Festival

Encourage social distancing

*We tripled the spacing of the doors and entrance area to ten 10 feet

* Pre-tickets guests will benefit from accelerated entry to the festival

* We have doubled the aisles in the Arts & Crafts area to over 30 feet

* We have added 4000 square feet of dining area for additional tent space

* 50% more spaced meal tents

* Rides have spacing, cleaning and hand sanitizing areas

* More than 40 hand disinfection stations in the field

* More social distancing chairs added in entertainment areas

* Addition of 20% more bathrooms

* When traveling on all Oyster Festival shuttles in accordance with state and CDC regulations, everyone must wear a mask.

* The Norwalk Seaport Association, in cooperation with Griffin Health and the State of CT will open a vaccine administration area where people can be vaccinated if they wish.

The support and understanding of the public is greatly appreciated as we host the 43rd Norwalk Oyster Festival.

About 43rd Norwalk’s Annual Oyster Festival

Now in his 43rd year, the Norwalk Oyster Festival is three days of fun, music, entertainment, food, and arts and crafts that have become a Connecticut tradition. Musical headliners include Mike DelGuidice & Big Shot, Steelheart and many more. Unlimited bracelets for the rides are offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and there will be professional family entertainment and non-stop music. On Saturday September 11 at 1:00 pm there will be a special 9/11 Memorial Service with an invocation and closing prayer with Reverend Elizabeth C. Abel Paster. All entertainment is included in the entry price.

Festival organizers encourage the purchase of tickets online at The Festival takes place on Friday September 10 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday September 11 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday September 12 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Free parking and shuttles are available and paid parking is nearby. The Norwalk Seaport Association was founded in 1978 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, education and public awareness of the maritime environment and heritage of Norwalk.
