NF taxes are due on July 1st.


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO ALL TAXPAYERS of the Town of New Fairfield that a tax with a per mile rate of 31.49 on the October 1, 2020 Assessment List is due and payable to the Collector’s Office.

The first payment of property and personal taxes is due on July 1, 2021. The taxes on motor vehicles are due in full on this date. Taxes, if not paid by August 2, 2021, are subject to an interest rate of (18%); 1 ½ percent per month, or fraction thereof, from the due date. The minimum interest charge is $ 2.00.

Failure to receive an invoice does not release or exonerate the taxpayer from liability for the payment of overdue taxes or interest. A single tax bill is mailed and must be used for both payments. There is a $ 20.00 service charge for all returned checks.

To avoid long lines, pay your taxes online at If you have your original tax bill, payment can also be made from July 1 to August 2 at New Fairfield branches of Savings Bank of Danbury and Union Savings Bank. If payment is mailed, it must be postmarked by the USPS by August 2, 2021. If a receipt is desired, please include a stamped envelope to your address with the payment. All electronic checks received from your online banking account will be processed from the date they are received. Electronic checks are mailed to us from your third-party bill payment institution and do not provide us with a postmarked date, so checks are processed (per Connecticut State Statute 12-146 Law 12-146) from the date of receipt, regardless of the date on the check.

Please allow sufficient time for mailing when initiating these online payments from your personal bank account.

Payments will be received at the Tax Collector’s Office, Town Hall, New Fairfield, CT: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday; and Friday from 8:30 am to noon.
