SRINAGAR, JUNE 21 (KNS): J&K Bank Managing Director and CEO Baldev Prakash today called on Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi.
On this occasion, the Minister of Finance asked the Bank to pursue its mission of financial empowerment.
The Bank has played its role well in the development of J&K, Ladakh and other parts of the country. All of its current efforts must match the scale of the challenges people face economically, she said.
Earlier, MD Baldev Prakash thanked the Finance Minister for his valuable time and briefed her on the current position of the Bank. He reiterated the Bank’s commitment to working towards the Union Government’s vision of equitable development and an inclusive economy, especially in Jammu and Kashmir.
On this occasion, he gave an overview of the Bank’s continued focus on entrepreneurship development and job creation through a series of government flagship credit programs. “We have been ranked among the top 4 banks for the implementation of PMEGP in the country,” he said.
He also briefed the Minister of Finance on the Bank’s strategy to increase its business by providing the best and latest services to the people, in addition to plans to improve its operation.
“Given the kind of steps that have been taken to improve corporate governance, J&K Bank is now one of the most trusted and transparent financial institutions in the country,” he added.
Wishing the CEO and CEO well in his endeavors and initiatives, the Finance Minister urged Baldev Prakash to maintain the Bank’s institutional focus on youth economic self-sufficiency. (KNS)
