Are banks open on Thanksgiving Day?

Thanksgiving, which falls on Thursday, November 25 of this year, is a federal holiday.

This means that Chase Bank, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

You will still be able to use the ATM, and depending on the type of ATM at your bank branch, this may mean that you can still make cash deposits.

In addition, it may take an additional day for the processing of financial transactions that you make using your online banking application.

Are banks open on Black Friday?

Black Friday, which falls on Friday, November 26 of this year, is not a federal holiday.

You should expect your local bank to be open on Black Friday.

According to, some states recognize the day after Thanksgiving as a statutory holiday.

These 26 states are: California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.

While these states only recognize Black Friday as a holiday for public offices, it may impact the opening and closing hours of banks in your area.

Small banks or credit unions may also have shortened Black Friday hours depending on their staff.

What time will banks be open on Thanksgiving weekend?

Bank hours can vary by location, and if you’re concerned that the hours listed online for your branch are inaccurate, it never hurts to call ahead.

Chase Bank’s standard hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Chase Bank opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

Chase Bank branches are closed on Sundays.

Bank of America branches usually open at 9 a.m. on weekdays.

Most locations closed at 5 p.m. before the pandemic, but as of 2020 many locations now close at 4 p.m. and you must call your local branch to confirm.

Bank of America branches have standard hours of 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and are closed on Sundays.

Wells Fargo locations have standard weekday hours of 9 am-5pm.

While some Wells Fargo locations open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays, many Wells Fargo locations are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
